Appointment Scheduling

Appointment Scheduling Orthodontic force systems must be adjusted and monitored every few weeks for treatment to proceed as planned. The length of appointments varies depending on the stage and progress of treatment. Some office visits may conflict with work or school. In order to balance the need for regular appointments with the need to minimize missed school and work hours, we have designed our office schedule as follows:

Short Appointments

The majority of appointments will be short, approximately 15 minutes. These are scheduled throughout the day; however, after 3:00 during the school year, only short appointments are scheduled. This allows the maximum number of patients to be seen during those hours. As a result, we cannot use a chair for a long appointment after 3:00.

Long Appointments

Appointments requiring 30 minutes or longer are scheduled in the morning or early afternoon. These appointments are less frequent and we try to minimize the number of times these are needed. We will provide school/work excuses for these appointments.

Emergency Appointments

Emergency/repair visits are available during office hours; however, times may not be open after 3:00 for these appointments. The doctors are on-call when the office is closed and can be paged by calling our office number and following the prompts.

Late Arrivals

In order to provide the best quality care possible, we want to see every patient at their scheduled time. If you are late, we may not be able to see you right away and, in fairness to others who arrive on time, may need to reschedule you to another day.

Missed/Cancelled Appointments

Since we schedule appointments at four- to six-week intervals, if you miss or cancel an appointment; we may not have immediate acceptable times available. We will work with you to find a new time as soon as is possible. We want to stress the importance of a regular appointment schedule so treatment is not delayed.

Appointment Reminders

We provide email reminders two days prior to your scheduled appointment. Through our website, you also have 24-hour access to appointment details.

Please note: If you or your child are too sick to go to work or school or are contagious, please call our office to reschedule your appointment.
